Compton farm - why we love it!
We spend a lot of time at Compton Farm on the Isle of Wight - we pitch quite a few bell tents here and it’s easy to see why. Set on a rustic, working farm it feels like a step back in time, a real place where you can relax and unwind, which you can’t fail to do with the views and wildlife all around you.
There are friendly farm animals including turkeys and sheep, the pitches are a really generous size and Compton Bay (arguably the best beach on the Island) is just a few minute’s walk away. You can swim, the surf is good, you can have a beach bbq…you can just simply BE here.
Plus the lovely village of Freshwater is just a few minute’s drive away, or if you are on foot there is a bus stop right outside the campsite - or if you are cycling, it’s a bit of a climb, but the view really makes up for it!
There’s plenty to do nearby, some of our top picks include grabbing a quick bite at The Piano Cafe; walking an alpaca at West Wight Alpacas; viewing the current Isle of Wight Festival exhibition at Dimbola; shopping for some Rapanui items at The Freshwater Bay Trading Company and grabbing a tasty pizza at Freshwater Bay courtesy of Gusto2Go.
