What’s happening on the Isle of Wight in 2024…

There are so many reasons to come glamping on the Isle of Wight.

From the stunning scenery, crystal clear waters and tasty local food and drink…to the unique microclimate with our warmer temperatures and extra hours of sunshine. Throw in a jam-packed events calendar, and really, you’ve got no excuse not to come and visit!

Take a look at some of our favourite events to enjoy in 2024….

Randonee 2024, 5th May
Thousands of cyclists take to the roads as they cycle clockwise around the Island. You can choose from two routes of either 100 or 55km, and there’s plenty of gorgeous scenery and places to stop along the way. Last year we had some customers who were doing this over a weekend and we moved their bell tent to a new location each day - and Pitch & Proceedandbelltents.co.uk/prices was born!

Walk the Wight, 12th May
An annual charity walk in aid of Mountbatten Hospice, this is a great way to see the Island in all its glory as you literally walk from one side to the other! Sounds a bit too strenuous? You can pick one of the hals walks either starting in Bembridge or Carisbrooke, plus there are plenty of other walks including the flat walk which is great for families.

Round the Island Race, 15th June
A real sight to see, this annual race attracts over 1400 boats and 15,000 sailors to race around the Island. Some of our top picks to watch the race include Fort Victoria, The Spyglass Inn in Ventnor and Castlehaven.

Isle of Wight Festival, 20th-23rd June
You’ve probably heard of this one! This iconic festival has played host to some of the world’s biggest artists over the years, including The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac and Jay-Z. This year’s lineup includes The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys and Keane.

Ventnor Fringe, 19th-28th July
Think pop-up bars and boutique venues, comedy in shops and nightclubs in observatories and you might just have the right picture of Ventnor Fringe. It’s great for all the family, even just for a wander through the town, or you can book tickets for the events.

Cowes Week, 27th July - 2nd August
Definitely not just for sailors, Cowes Week brings the party to Cowes year after year. There’s live music in the pubs and event stages, as well as street performers, bars and food to enjoy. The sailing is enjoyable to watch too, we recommend heading down to Cowes Green for a good spot to watch.

Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, 23rd-26th August
The sight of thousands of scooters driving around the Island and the smell of two-stroke in the air has been an August tradition for many years. Now staying at Sandown Airport, the annual ‘drive-out’ is great to watch with people lining the streets across the Island - just don’t be that car who gets caught behind them!

Wolverton Manor Garden Fair, September TBC
A mix of country show, family entertainment and garden fair, all taking place in the stunning grounds of Wolverton Manor in the West Wight. The live folk music, beer tents, llamas to pet and even a moat to kayak round in - what more could you want?

So there you have it - just a snapshot of the many events that take place on the Island each year. If you fancy booking your glamping stay to coincide with one of these events or any others, just give us a shout as we can always recommend the best location for you. Just click here to book.
