Where To go glamping on the isle of wight a-z
We often get asked this question, in fact, we love it when people ask us for our recommendations as to the best place to pitch our bell tents, based on their unique wants & needs.
I mean, no wifi is someone's idea of heaven and another's idea of hell (hello those with teenagers) some want to be on a bus route, others want to be near a great country pub, and some want absolutely nothing around!
The beauty is, the Isle of Wight caters for all these and more! We have made it our business to know what each campsite offers, what makes them special & unique, so that we can share that knowledge with you, making sure you have the perfect glamping getaway!
Running through in alphabetical order, we will give you the lowdown on the campsites we work with and if the one you want isn’t on our list, give us a shout as we are adding new ones all the time.
Starting with A for Appuldurcombe Gardens Holiday Park, this award-winning site is set in 14 acres of secluded grounds in Wroxall. Surrounded by open countryside, you are set in the valley of Stenbury and St Martin’s Down meaning there are some pretty fab walks close by including up to Freemantle Gate. There’s plenty of wildlife to spot, as well as sheep grazing in the surrounding fields and the ruins of Appuldurcombe House just up the road. The Donkey Sanctuary nearby is well worth a visit
The site itself is really well-maintained and it’s number one bonus - it has its own large outdoor heated swimming pool - great for an early morning swim or a splash with the kids. There is an on-site cafe which is licensed plus a launderette and small kid’s play park. Dogs are welcome on leads.
The campsite is about a 10-minute drive to Ventnor Town and there is a bus stop nearby. Ventnor is a pretty Victorian seaside town, with some amazing restaurants and places to visit. Our favourites include The Smoking Lobster for great unique food, Crave for the best ice cream outside of Italy, The Spyglass Inn for a cracking location and Ventnor Botanic Garden for a family-friendly day out.
